For First Time Buyers we can offer an introductory no claims discount of 2 years if the policyholder is a first-time buyer of a property on Household cover or a first-time landlord that's never held Landlord cover before.
Who do we class as a first-time buyer?
A first-time buyer is generally someone who's buying their first home, or buying Landlord Insurance for the first time. i.e. if they've never owned a property before this one and are looking to take out an insurance policy from the point (or very shortly after) the purchase has completed, they'd be regarded as a first-time buyer. However, if, for example, the client has lived in or rented the property for several months and have been insured elsewhere, they'll no longer be classed as a first-time buyer.
Adding Contents to an existing Buildings policy would unfortunately not qualify for the 2 years introductory discount.
What about new customers that are not first-time buyers?
A no claims discount can be added for buildings and/or contents to the policy. This should be in line with the no claims discount entitlement given to the client by their last insurer.
If we're informed that the policyholder has made a claim within the last five years, then we can still apply five years no claims discount, if that's what they have from their previous insurer.
The client can also have a break-in cover of up to 2 years so they can transfer their No Claims Discount to a new policy.
We can't transfer a No Claims Discount from a Home insurance policy to a Landlord policy or vice versa.
