If you have an annexe or granny flat, occupied by a family member and which forms part of your main building, this can be covered under your Buildings and Contents Insurance. Please check the sum insured is high enough to cover the whole property and its contents.

If you have an annexe or granny flat that is a separate from the main property i.e. has its own entrance and registered address, then this needs to be treated as a separate property with its own Buildings and Contents policy.

If the annexe or granny flat is rented out under a tenancy agreement, then you should take out a Landlord Insurance policy provided it has a separate address.
