For first time buyers of a residential property, we offer an introductory no claims discount of two years.

Who do we class as a first-time buyer?

A first-time buyer is generally someone who's buying their first home, i.e. you've never owned a property before this one, and are looking to take out your first insurance policy to cover your buildings and/or contents. If this is the case, you'd be regarded as a first-time buyer and would be entitled to the two years introductory no claims discount.

However, if, for example, you 've lived in or rented a property for several months and been insured elsewhere, then you'll no longer be classed as a first-time buyer.

Also, adding cover such as Contents Insurance to an existing Buildings Insurance policy would unfortunately not qualify for the two years introductory discount.

What about new customers that are not first-time buyers?

You can add your no claims discount for Buildings and/or Contents Insurance to your policy. This should be in line with the no claims discount entitlement given to you by your last insurer.

If you inform us you’ve made a claim within the last five years, then we can still apply five years no claims discount, if that’s what you have from your previous insurer.

You can have a break in cover of up to two years so you can transfer your no claims discount to a new policy.

We can't transfer a no claims discount from a Home insurance policy to a Landlord’s Insurance policy or vice versa.
